Time for a Change

Laura • Nov 11, 2016

These North Chesterfield grandparents knew it was time for a change. They scheduled a consultation with us, during which we discussed the ways the kitchen no longer met their needs functionally. Since their children are busy working parents with small kids of their own, all holiday gatherings take place at Grandpa and Grandma’s. Based on the volume of food prepared and the multiple dishes that typically must cook simultaneously, they knew they absolutely needed a double wall oven. An old hutch was occupying a space behind the kitchen table, but serving no real purpose beyond storing china and cookbooks. There was a blind corner cabinet that was becoming increasingly difficult to “climb into” when they needed the turkey roaster. And everyone in the family, apparently, was tired of looking at the old dated cabinets.

Our original design included all the elements they needed; rollout trays, drawer base cabinets, a tall pantry adjacent to a coffee area and upper cabinets with glass doors for displaying family treasures. We worked with the family to finalize the design details, and began to coordinate all aspects of the job. The couple brought their daughter to our showroom to choose their cabinetry, and Waypoint’s 450 style in Cherry Bordeaux appealed equally to everyone. The granite, Juaparana Alba, was such a lovely complement to the wood, they chose a full-height granite backsplash. When the remodel was complete, it had exceeded their expectations. The before and after photos below speak for themselves.
