Reface v’s Remodel
Solid Cherry Reface with Granite tops.
Remodel in White painted Maple with Shaker style doors.
When we meet with customers in their home for a free consultation, we are often asked what is the difference between refacing and remodeling and what do we think would be the best solution for them. The above two photos show very similar kitchens yet one was refaced in Cherry and the other was remodeled with all new cabinets in painted White maple. Both customers chose granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and tile floors.
Some of the deciding factors when choosing refacing or remodeling are as follows:
1. Refacing is usually less expensive than a full remodel.
2. Design of the kitchen layout – are there blind corner cabinets that are difficult to reach, a peninsula that cuts the kitchen in half, not enough pantry space, not enough drawers, not enough counter space.
3. Some older kitchen cabinets have been compromised and are not a good candidate for a reface.
4. Granite counter tops have already been installed over the old cabinets and cannot be moved.
During our initial consultation with a potential customer, we find out what it is they would love to have in their kitchen and we give them all the options available to help them achieve that dream within their budget. It can be a Reface, a Remodel, or a Recondition. The end result is always a beautiful kitchen.
